How it Happened

Both teams came out trading blows, and the score remained deadlocked 9-9 at the 4:20 mark of the first quarter. The Sharks began to pull away, as they went on a 12-3 run to end the quarter. Much of the scoring came from Reed, as she scored eight of the Sharks' first 17 points. NSU's run was capped by an offensive rebound and putback from Unique Horton, and the Sharks led 21-12 after the first.

NSU opened the second quarter with an 11-0 run, capped by an and-one from Holland. The Sharks went up 34-14 after two free throws from Reed, and they held the Lions scoreless for over seven minutes. Georgian Court finally scored a layup at the 2:50 mark to break the scoring drought, but Holland immediately responded with another and-one. The Sharks went up 43-19 on a corner three from Taydra Simpson, and they led 43-23 at the half. NSU outrebounded the Lions 30-13 while also forcing 22 first-half turnovers.

The Sharks went up 53-23 at the 5:53 mark of the third quarter on a driving layup from Bridie McCann. They maintained the 30-point lead midway through the period after a three-pointer from McCann and another layup from Chiles, and they led by as many as 37 points in the fourth quarter. Two free throws from Zoe Adams provided the final margin, and the Sharks closed out the 81-45 victory.
